Organic Raisins
Organic Sultana Raisins:
Nature’s Sweet Treat from Turkey
Organic raisins are one of the most popular snacking fruits, packed with vitamins, iron, dietary fiber, and potassium. Our organic raisins are sourced from the Manisa region in Turkey, the largest producer of Sultana Raisins in the world.
Production of Organic Sultana Raisins
The organic raisins we offer are guaranteed to meet established standards for mycotoxin levels, thanks to rigorous testing performed on large samples of raw material for ochratoxin A and aflatoxins before acceptance. The EU sets the limit for aflatoxin B1 at 2 parts per billion (2 ppb) and for total aflatoxins (B1, B2, G1, and G2) at 4 ppb in ready-to-eat dried fruits and at 10 ppb in dried fruits intended for further processing. Our Sultanas are produced from seedless grape varieties, dried to concentrate their rich flavor. Unlike Thompson Seedless Raisins, Sultanas undergo a quick dip in a solution of potassium carbonate and organic oil before drying, which helps achieve their unique yellow color and plump texture. This method not only enhances their sweetness but also preserves essential nutrients. We work closely with local farmers, ensuring ethical and sustainable practices throughout the cultivation and processing stages. Our Sultanas are not just organic but also BRC certified for safety and hygiene.
Quality Assurance
From cultivation to processing, we maintain strict quality control measures. All our organic raisins undergo four scans using laser, metal detectors, and x-ray machines, along with visual inspections, ensuring that foreign materials do not exceed specification limits. We deliver raisins of ready-to-use (RTU) grade to our customers, guaranteeing top-notch quality.
Nutritional Benefits
Sultanas are a good source of energy thanks to their carbohydrate content. They also contain vitamins B1, B2, and various minerals. Raisins are known to support child growth, aid in curing diseases related to inflammation and fever, and promote kidney and liver health.
Did You Know?
The difference between Sultana and Thompson raisins lies in their drying process rather than the grapevine species from which they originate (Vitis vinifera). Thompson raisins are dried naturally, while Sultanas are treated with potassium carbonate and organic oil, resulting in their distinct color and flavor.
